Macarons are a French delicacy and have become basically a symbol of French culture. They are meringue-based cookies made by whipping egg whites and sugar. The meringue is then mixed with almond flour and powdered sugar and baked. They are then filled with whatever filling of your choosing and made into little sandwich cookies.
Although both cookies are meringue-based, they are different. Macarons are colorful sandwich cookies. Macaroons are coconut drop cookies.
Unless indicated otherwise, macarons are gluten-friendly. However, we do not work in a certified gluten-free kitchen and cannot guarantee absolutely no cross-contamination.

If you have any leftover macarons (a rare occasion for us), transfer them to an air-tight container and place them in the freezer. They can be frozen for up to a month.
Macarons are best enjoyed at room temperature, so let them thaw for 15-20 minutes before enjoying again.
